About
I'm Chase Smith. Red Door Interactive is the name I build under — a one-person studio behind three products that span realtime voice, broadcast video, and game platforms.
Who I Am
I'm a hands-on engineer working out of the countryside, and I believe in getting the fundamentals right. I build whole products rather than pieces of them — which is how one person ends up writing audio DSP, a telemetry plugin, a broadcast pipeline and the infrastructure underneath.
How I Work
I don't chase trends. Every decision gets weighed against the years a product has to keep running, not the week it ships in.
-
I take my time
Quality shows up in the small details — in thinking a problem through before committing to it.
-
I think long-term
Something I still want to open in two years is worth more to me than something clever I ship today.
-
I build things I'd use
Every one of these started as something I wanted to exist. That's still the best reason I've found to build anything.

Building all three of these means moving between stacks constantly: Python and FastAPI one day, C# and WPF the next, Java and Spring Boot after that — with a good deal of TypeScript, C++, ffmpeg and AWS in between.
The through-line isn't the language. It's a preference for systems that keep running unattended and stay legible to whoever opens them next.
